My beloved is to me a cluster of Henna Blossoms
from the vineyards of En Gedi.
The art of henna has become increasingly popular in Western culture during the last few decades; being used primarily as a natural hair dye or a trendy ornamental form of hand and foot art.

Perhaps Henna's most well observed quality is it's natural cooling effect, which offers a delightful tingling sensation to the skin (similar to chewing spearmint gum and drinking cold water). Once this property was discovered, people of the desert, used henna to cool down their bodies. By making a henna paste and smearing it on themselves, they achieved an air conditioning effect. The sensation is felt throughout the body for as long as the henna stain remains on their skin. It didn't take long before the desert people turned the henna smears into works of art. Thus the mehndi tradition was birthed.

En-Gedi o Ein-Gedi
The Oasis in the middle of the desert and close to Dead Sea
En Gedi is a wonderful Nature Preserve.
The name means “spring of the young goat” or “kid”.
En-Gedi is an Oasis and a Paradise in Israel.
The abundant springs and year-round temperate climate provided the perfect conditions for agriculture in ancient times. Solomon compared his lover to “a cluster of henna blossoms from the vineyards of En Gedi,” an indication of the beauty and fertility of the site (Song 1:14). Evidence has been of workshops used in the perfume industry to distill products made from balsam. It has even been suggested that the perfume production at En Gedi was part of a royal estate.
En Gedi was also an area where king David hid from king Saul.
David went up from there and stayed in the strongholds of En-gedi. (1 Samuel 23:29)

our rafters are firs.
